The Outfit

Anthony Hodson, grew up on a small farm near Smithers BC.  His father, a biologist, taught he and his 3 brothers all about the outdoors and shared his passion for wildlife and hunting from a young age.  The boys hunted together and alone, on horseback or on foot, sometimes in collaboration and sometimes in competition with each other.  Trophy animals from all around BC and the world adorn the walls of their family’s log home.

Anthony’s passion for hunting followed him through his college and university days where he obtained a Forestry Tech diploma in Smithers and then a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Management from the University of Alberta.  He also dove headlong into another passion, rodeo.  He competed in amateur, college and then professional circuits in the bareback riding, winning many accolades and meeting many friends and fellow hunting partners.

It was during his university days that he met his wife, Keri, a native to the Diamond Valley, Alberta area.  Keri’s family made their living in the agricultural industry, including pasturing cattle on lease land west of town in the Rocky Mountain foothills.  She grew up with a strong love of sport,  horses and of the western lifestyle. 

Anthony and Keri bought land near to Keri’s family, where they work closely with her family in their ranching and cattle operations.

Anthony and Keri have a son and a daughter who are involved in the local 4H club, athletics and rodeo, and are following in their parent’s footsteps.

Apart from his own personal hunting experiences, Anthony has guided for outfits in the Yukon, Wyoming and Northern BC.  Two of his brothers have their own guiding outfits which Anthony has been involved with over the last 10 years.  It was a natural progression for him to start his own guiding business, which has been years in the making.  Securing tags in such a coveted hunting area is a challenge and took time.  During that time, Anthony attained an intimate knowledge of  the hunting allotment from his own hunting, gathering family cattle in the area and in his role as a Registered Professional Forester.  All these passions have brought him back to this one location.  He is very excited to put this knowledge to use with Mountain Muley’s!
